The temple is open from 5.30 am to 9.30 pm. All objects as milk, honey, curd, tender coconut, turmeric water, sacred ashes, sandal paste, sugarcane juice, lime juice, Panchamirtham – fruit jam made of five fruits mixed in ghee – ghee, rice flour, oil, sacred water all come down to the peeta without any residue staying on the linga. They fall down in 16 lines – The Linga is Shodasa Linga – a Linga with 16 faces. This abishek is performed during Rahu Kalam time.

The Linga is made of a single special stone having the characteristics of Navapashana (9 herbal medicines), 5.5 feet tall and set on the Brhamma and Vishnu peetams (Peetam a platform having certain dimensions in accordance with vedic rules), having the Trinity (Brahamma, Vishnu and Shiva) in a single Linga form). The Linga will echo abronze metal sound when tapped. Siddha Kakapujanda attained Samadhi near the temple. His tomb is built near the temple and a lamp is lit here. In all Shiva temple, the Nandhi will be seen slanting on a side. As the Nandhi in this temple is a Bala (baby) without growth of the horns, devotees can have the darshan of the Lord easily as the hornsof Nadhi do not obstruct the sight of the Lord.

The other wonder is that on the Full Moon day in the Month of Panguni (March-April) and on the Uthara star day of the same month, two rays of Sun pass through the Nandhi and fall on the Lord from 6.30 a.m. to 7.30 a.m. It is noteworthy that the distance between Nandhi and the Lord in sanctum sanctorum is 70 feet. This is a hot place as it is in between Vayu (space) and Panchabudhas. The lamp flame is ever burning representing the live pulse ofKakapujanda Siddha as found in the palm leaves. This symbolizes the Absolute nature (Poorana) of the Almighty.
